Thursday's Tip {Bye-Bye Paci, Binky, whatever you call them}

Ok, so I haven't quite accomplished this task.. I said I would do it when Lexi turned one.. then we went on vacay for almost 2 weeks and I knew we would need it, it's kinda a life saver, that thing!
Then I made another excuse b/c we are out in Cali.. well I have come pretty close to not keeping the paci with us 24/7 and one night without it (she had already been asleep)

anyways, MY GOAL...  paci-be-gone by the time I head back to Idaho..
I know this needs to be a cut & dry kinda deal so I am just going to have to prep myself to be ready!
anyone want to do it with me?!? ok so i'm not going to hold my self to it by the time i get back b/c i might need the little thing for the flight home.. but I do want to do this sooner than later.. wish me luck!

in the meantime here's a fun and clever thing I have found on the internet that applies to older ones

Bye-Bye paci party:
you tie all the paci's to balloons and let the kids set them free for other babies in heaven
I thought it was pretty clever!

check out the sweet dad thighs in this video..

if you want to see more videos of people who have done this just youtube it- there are about a million different families trying it!

  1. i love this idea. I don't know when I will be able to take it away from Sophie because she HAS to have it to fall asleep.

  3. My son held on to his binky like it was a lifeline! We actually started out by only giving it to him during naps and when he was real fussy, but as time went on, he seemed to want it more (it went from a suckle need, to a want). My mom found the bye bye pacifier method (www.bye-bye-pacifier.com), printed it and suggested that we go with it. At first I was a bit mad at my mom, but I soon got over it. The method worked amazingly well. My son stopped sucking on it after 4 days! He proceeded to carry it around for another week, but never put it in his mouth. He then got tired of carrying it and simply lost interest. Mom was right, it worked, highly recommended!
