My Everyday Curl / Video Tutorial

flower crown: The Honeycomb

I finally found time to video a tutorial on how I curl my hair!
I ran into about every obstacle possible trying to get this baby recorded! Firsts my camera shut off without me knowing due to lack of memory on my card and then I ran into losing daylight.. and it's a longer process than my last video of shading in eyebrows ;) hopefully I will figure this video tutorial thing out soon! This has been one of my most frequently asked question "how do you curl your hair" so I will have some q&a's for you below! If I missed anything just leave me a comment and I will reply! be sure to catch the end, i posted what it looks like on day 2 & how I style without washing!

My hair is in a more raw form than normal because I just happened to not blow dry my hair straight or the extensions for that matter. So you get to see the full texture of my hair and extensions.. the extensions normally look a lot better but when I washed them the night before I was too lazy to brush through them (and I didn't really know I was going to video this until last minute) so it left for more tangles the next day.. so my suggestion is when you wash your extensions brush through them and add some leave in conditioner!

I only wash my extensions about every 3-4 weeks depending on how dirty they are... or if I start to notice my curls not holding the way I want. They say its better to not wash them often because they don't get all the oils that your natural hair does. I still wash my own hair every day or every other day. I also have started to teeze my hair a bit where the extensions are going to be placed it helps the clips grasp on a bit. I never really use to have to do this but I think it is because the new brand I am using has a bit more hair which makes it heavier and clips tend to slide a bit.

What extensions am I wearing?
220g 22''  Chestnut Brown from Bellami
If I had to order over again, I would choose the
I would debate about doing the 160 gram 20"
I absolutely love the fullness so it would be a good debate, but after a couple of weeks I decided the hair was just too long for my liking. The day I had them put in I probably had her cut off 2-4"?  I'm not really sure what she did.. but a couple of weeks after (after our family pictures), I had one of my girl friends who does hair cut them even shorter and blend them and I have loved them so much more than when they were first done and were LONG long. (I still consider them long) When they were long long, I noticed how they wouldn't hold my curls as good and didn't seem to last. I also think they blend better when they aren't super far past your own longest length.
As for the color:
Bellami doesn't carry a perfect shade to match my hair so I had to order Chestnut Brown and then I took it into a salon and had them dye it to match my hair (it's nice not to have to put chemicals on my own hair)

If you want to try extensions Sallys carries them and I would also recommend the Euronext brand.
I have used Dark Brown & Chestnut with that brand.

  3. Wow!!! your hair is so good. I like your post. Are you ever use hair extension? Hair extension is more better option than experiment on your original hair.

  4. Love this, your hair looks really pretty :) I have a question though, since I'm totally not informed on extensions: with clip-ins, do you take them out and clip them back in everyday?
And, I finally got lash extensions, yay!! Would you maybe consider doing a post about yours, how you care for them, how you remove makeup from them without ruining them, etc.? That would be really interesting, at least for me it would be ;) xo Michelle

    1. As for hair: Thank you! I do take them out almost every night-- it doesn't kill you to sleep in them but it is way more comfortable to just take them out and clip them back in, in the morning. I currently don't have lash extensions in right now, but I can answer some of your questions! I normally do them for special occasions or when I feel like I need a fun change! :) I only used mascara on my bottom lashes and never used them on the top unless my extensions were getting bare and I needed the extra fill. I also found it was easiest to just usea cotton ball or swab with coconut oil to remove my eye make up -- but you have to be way more careful if you are using a cotton ball because I noticed it would snag on the glue of my lashes.. so a ear swab might be easiest I always tried not touching them to make them last longer! :) hope this helps!!

  5. Love this tutorial! I've never thought to try extensions before, I worry that they'll look fake but yours look so natural. Do you wear them every day, all year long? Love your blog :)
