when the evening pulls the sun down

Yesterday Lexi woke up in a suprisingly good mood, the night before consisted of battles of all battles of bedtime, resulting in getting her tv taken out of her room.. which is normally our saving grace to get her to stay in her bedroom when its bedtime. It's an almost war to get her to go to bed if she has had a nap that day, this past week she's been napping again.
We've become incentive parents.. you sleep in your bed all night.. there will be some type of reward.
I don't love that it has come to that.. but at the same time its heavenly when she does as she's told.

In bed she'll ask what are we doing tomorrow? Then I continue and say well.. if you stay in your bed all night long we'll paint or go to Target or we'll have cinnamon rolls... the list has gone on.
She seems to need something to look forward to or wants to know the "plans" for the next day.
She might get this from me, because I like to be doing something.. sitting at home all day every day does not feel productive for me.. I like having things to do, projects to work on.

She just wants to be close,
so most of the time in the middle of the night when she creeps into our rooms..
we just let her stay.

  1. I'd say that would be a hard choice as a parent, but my mother always told me to pick my battles. That's what she did with me. I'm going to try and remember that when I'm a mom someday. Some battles are not worth fighting...

    1. Totally agree picking battles is key, sometimes we get lost on where the boundary is with that but all you can do is try your best hah!

  4. Beautiful pictures! Is that a drop cloth you use to save your floors from paint? Don't feel bad for bribing---you do what you have to do as a mom to keep your sanity! She is a happy healthy thriving little girl and you are an awesome mom! Don't fall into that mommy guilt trap. :)
